There are many ways to get involved with the promising field of regnerative medicine, and with our program in particular. A few of the ways are listed below, and you can call us at 916-703-9300 (Program office) or 916-734-9408 (Director of Foundation Relations - Laurie Macintosh)
1. Learn about stem cell research and clinical trials going on right now at UC Davis and tell a friend!
We have many community events that are posted at:
http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/stemcellresearch
Including our stem cell dialogs events, which rwe record and post on the program website.
2. Participate in clinical trials.
Those that are ongoing or will be soon accruing are posted at the stem cell program website, listed above.
Clincial trials at UC Davis in general can be found at:
http://ctscapps.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/clinicaltrials/trialsearch.aspx
Stem Cell clincial trials ongoing at other sites can be found at :
http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/
3. Volunteer time or help support our volunteers and trainees:
On any given week we have between ten and twenty unpaid volunteers of all ages working in our program. Our volunteers range from high school students to emeritus professors and are chosen as we have room and capacity for thier training and supplies.
These devoted volunteers give their time to us because they believe that regnerative medicine will bring society the cures of the future. Any donation to our program for "training" can be used for the volunteers or for our students, to help offset the cost of their parking, courses, lab supplies, and other incidental expenses. Our students of all ages often get jobs in the field and spread their energy and knowledge to other sites.
4. Philanthropy:
We rely on grant and foundation funding and on philanthropy for our survival and to bring the best, cutting edge cures to our community members and to society. we spend 75% of our time applying for grants but it is never enough to fully support the newest, most advanced research.
Every dollar of each donation can be put to use immediately upon receipt to foster the research toward a specific disease on which our teams are working. Please see the videos to the right and the disease teams listing to view our particular areas of expertise. To make a tax-free donation please contact Laurie Macintosh, Director of Foundations Relations, at 916-734-9408.
